February 21, 2020 – Pre-Trip
It seems like I booked this trip eons ago, and now it’s finally almost here. This will be a 7-night cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas! I’m getting ready to check into my flight! I leave tomorrow afternoon. I am somewhat worried about Indiana weather in February, so I will be staying in Miami for two nights, to be sure that I don’t have any travel issues.
Flight Info
I’ll be flying to Miami on Delta and I was able to score a First Class seat by using some Delta miles!! I’ll be flying home on Southwest out of Fort Lauderdale. it’s kind of a long story. I had miles on Delta but not enough for a round trip fare. I did have enough for one way in First Class though. And it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to fly First Class, so let’s do it!
What is a Rudie?
This is the yearly Rudies Cruise. For those who don’t know what a Rudie is, it’s Brian Christopher’s group of fans. Brian has a YouTube slot channel, and we often get together at casinos to gamble together. And there will be many casino events on this cruise as well. There are so many amazing people in this group, and I am excited to get to meet many of them for the first time. I think there will be over 100 of us on the cruise, which isn’t really saying much since the Oasis of the Seas holds 6000 passengers. Yikes! That’s bigger than my town.
Cruise Destinations
The ship sails out of Miami on Sunday afternoon. We’ll be stopping in Haiti (A Royal Caribbean private island), Jamaica, and Cozumel. This will be my first cruise in probably 30 years, so I’m not totally sure what to expect, but I do expect to have a great time! I am so ready to get out of cold Indiana. Since this is with a gambling group, there will be lots of gambling! I’m hoping I can video some of my play, like I do in a regular casino.
Packing for a cruise has been quite a bit different than packing for Vegas! I’m not totally sure what all I should pack, and as I usually do, I will probably pack way more than I need! But better safe than sorry! I AM NOT taking my laptop on this trip. There will be no work! This is the first trip in over a year where I will be completely work-free! But I’ll have my phone and there will be wifi on the ship.
Ok, I need to finish packing!
