September 16, 2018 – The Night Before
It’s finally time!!!! I can’t believe it’s here. These last 100ish days since I planned it have seemed to crawl by! (other than my first grandchild being born!) It’s been 2 and a half years since my last trip to Vegas, and I am soooooo ready. Not sure why it’s been so long, we’ve just had other trips I guess.
My flight leaves before dawn, Ugh! So I’ll be staying at a hotel near the airport tonight. Gives me an extra hour or so to sleep. DH always says, if he sees me up before dawn I must be going to gamble! Truth!
I am all checked in via SWA and the first WIN of the trip – I got that lovely TSA PreCheck symbol on my boarding pass. I also got boarding group A36, Score! I did pay the earlybird fee, (back when it was still $15) because I did not see myself up before dawn on a Sunday to check in. Now that the fee is $25, not sure I would still do it.
If everything goes on schedule, I will be landing in Vegas just before 8 AM and then off to Caesars Palace. I have 5 nights comped in a Palace Premium room. Hopefully, check-in via the Diamond line will go smoothly and hoping to see if I can up that to an Augustus tower, but we shall see.
I have quite a few things that I would like to do, and we’ll see how much I actually end up doing. What’s in the plan:
- Gambling, gambling, and more gambling
- Drinking, etc. etc.
- A Video Poker Royal Flush would be most welcome, especially a dealt one on my go to Triple Play games. (probably too much to ask but lets dream big!)
- A day at Cosmo – I’m hoping to play enough there to get a small offer
- An evening crawling Fremont starting with some VP at Boarshead at Main Street Station and on from there
- I usually don’t play a lot of slots, but I want to try some more of that thanks to Matt Bridger and his vlogs. If you have never watched a Bridger Vlog, then you have to check him out: https://www.youtube.com/c/MattBridger/featured
- As for food, since I’m solo it will probably be whatever I can find when I’m hungry. I do have a few MyVegas buffets that I can use. And I’d like to try Secret Pizza at Cosmo. So many of you post pics from Shake Shack that I believe it is also calling my name!
Other than that I have my Diamond show tickets I can use, a ticket to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, and as a very last resort, if I’m totally out of money, some pool time.
I’m going to try to do this Live-Ish, so if you’d like to follow along I’d love to have you. Most of my family don’t get this “gambling thing”, so it’s awesome to have someone to share my trips with! That is if you made it through my novel-length pre-trip report! Vegas, I’m comin’ for Ya!

Since I have such an early morning flight, I’m checked into a Quality Inn by the airport. Ceasars Palace it’s not! Lol but decent, clean good bed, and the AC works!
As I’m leaving home my wonderful DH slips me a couple of hundred extra! What a man! Except they’re 50s. Did I not say my family doesn’t get the gambol thing! LOL. So do I trade them in, use for food, or laugh in the face of superstition and put them in a machine?
Hopefully, I can sleep tonight. I have to be at the airport at 5ish. A couple of cocktails and a sleep tab will hopefully let me get some rest. And I also set 3 alarms because I’m paranoid. Haha
