February 21, 2020 – Miami
Friday, February 21, 2020 and I am heading to the airport! My flight on Delta leaves around 4 PM. I then have a 2 hour layover in Atlanta before heading on to Miami! It will be late when I get in, but I have a hotel reservation and should be all set to go.
Indianapolis Airport
I get to Indy airport early, which is pretty usual for me. I would rather be early than have to scramble to catch a flight. Everything is running on time and I grab a sandwich and a drink while I wait.
We board on time, and the process is very smooth. It’s nice being in First Class, as I get to be one of the first to board. I get on the flight and immediately get offered a drink, which I of course accepted! A nice vodka and diet coke!
Atlanta Airport
The flight from Indy to Atlanta is smooth and uneventful. We arrive on time, and I now have a two-hour layover until my connecting flight to Miami. I haven’t flown through Atlanta in years, and I had forgotten how crazy this place can be. I find a TGI Friday’s and have a snack and a drink. That passed the time, and then it’s time to board for Miami. Another uneventful flight and we land right on time in Miami.
Miami
It’s after 11 PM when we land in Miami, and it takes longer than I’m used to to get my luggage. It finally arrives, and I call an Uber to get to my hotel. This is where the drama starts! I made it to the hotel, a Double Tree by Hilton, but I almost didn’t get to check in there. I went to the desk, and the clerk said they were overbooked and that they would have to take me to another hotel. That did not thrill me. I prepaid for this hotel to make sure that there would be no problems with late check-in. Finally, the other desk attendant said there was another room that someone had not yet checked into yet, and I would be put in that room. It was the same type as I had booked, and that was fine with me. Sorry to the other guy, but I got my room.
Double Tree by Hilton King Room
The room was a regular king bed room. The bed was super comfy, and I even liked the pillows, which if you’ve read any of my other trip reports, you know that I am super picky about pillows! The rest of the amenities in the room were all great. There was a small refrigerator and a single cup coffee maker. The bathroom had a great sink set up, a stand up shower with great water pressure, and a supply of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. So other than the check-in snafu, I was very happy with the room! But it was now about 1 AM and I was tired! Time to get some sleep!
