July 29 – 31, 2020
This was my first time back to Caesars since all the shut downs. I have stayed here quite a few times before, but things are, of course, different currently.
Room with a View
I reserved a King room with a Nature View, and that is indeed what I received. The “view” is basically a view of their walking trail, retention pond, and some beautiful trees! Unfortunately, my view wasn’t much these 2 days as it was very wet and rainy both days, with some storms mixed in.
King Bed
I had a nice sized king bed. The bed’s here are pretty comfortable, but I hate the pillows they have here. Now that said, I am very picky about pillows and always pack a small pillow to bring with me. If you like big, thick, and a bit hard pillows, then you will love these. I was glad that I packed my own!
Bathroom
The bathroom is a basic hotel bathroom. There was a tub/shower combination. The water pressure here was just okay. And the tub was very slippery with no handrail. If you have trouble easily getting in and out of the tub, then this may be a problem for you. They used to provide little single use bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. However, they now have large dispensers of body wash and shampoo/conditioner combined that are fixed to the wall of the shower. I personally do not care for these, and especially right now with the virus situation, I would not care to use these.
Cleaning and COVID procedures
The did do a very good job of cleaning the room before use. When I first arrived, there was a sticker across the door jam to indicate that it had been thoroughly cleaned for me. They also require mask use throughout the hotel and the casino. All staff were wearing masks. There were hand sanitizer dispensers spread all through the hotel and the casino. It did look like they were doing a job of cleaning and sanitizing throughout the day.
Room Amenities
The room was set up with a small refrigerator, which is something I always appreciate. I carry my own drinks and cold coffee beverages, and it’s great to be able to chill them. And since I was staying two nights, I had a place to put my dinner leftovers for the next day. There used to be a single cup coffee maker in the room, however, this was removed, again due to the COVID situation.
Restaurants
Sadly, the food situation in the hotel/casino was a bit lacking. There is only one small cafe that is in the lobby of the hotel. For any other food options, you have to go to the casino. They do have a great steakhouse, Jack Binions Steakhouse. I was hoping to eat there one night, but right now they are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so that did not work out for me. In the casino there is a “food court.” There are five different food stations set up in the food court. However, only one of these was open. This made for a bit of a wait during certain times of the day.
Casino
The casino is open but operating at 50% capacity. The machines are set up for social distancing, which means every other machine is turned off, or the machines are positioned in such a manner to create distance. There was no drink service on the floor, so if you wanted a drink, you had to go to one of the open bars to get something. At times, only one bar was open, which again made for some wait time.
Summary
In summary, I do enjoy this hotel and casino. They are doing a good job trying to keep things as fun as possible during this tough situation. I would definitely recommend a visit, if you enjoy a casino stay.
I have a room and casino walk-through of Caesars Southern Indiana that I took in January of this year, before the shutdowns.
